Heavy Metal Scene Edit

The above screenshot shows an editing technique I have used for the heavy metal scene of my short film. In synchronisation with the music, shots will change and effects will be added to make the scene look more aggressive, fast and also to create movement of the skateboard.

Film Poster Drafts

Above is the first of three drafts for a film poster of my short film 'skate or die' it shows the skateboard in a police mug shot holding a board with the film information on. This poster portrays the skateboard as criminal but doesn't reveal anything else about the story of the film or any of the other characters apart from some clues given away by the title. The board that the skateboard is holding will include the title, production team information and tagline which is yet to be decided. The starring cast members are at the top of the poster as is convention.

The second plan for a poster that I drafted shows a wider picture of the themes to this dark comedy short film, it shows that there is romance conflicting with friendship and portrays the skateboard as having human thoughts, with the title and production information enclosed within a thought bubble with the words skate or die showing his frustration at the romance . Once again the cast stars names are at the top of the poster to follow convention.

The final plan I made for my film poster was similar to the second. It shows the skateboard thinking about his owner and his new lover. However this time I have shown the skateboard in the foreground to represent it as the main character and the thought bubble in the background shows them as supporting characters. Film title, production information and taglines are at the bottom of the page and the cast are at the top to follow convention.

Cocaine Scene Edit

For the scene where the skateboard is taking cocaine I have chosen to add effects and transitions which was not stated in my storyboard in order to simulate the skateboard being on drugs. I have used the noise and smear effects to blur and change colours of the images.

Mourning Scene Edit

For the funeral/mourning scene I have chosen to use a long cut of the boy on his own lighting a candle, later the girl enters and escorts him away from the grave. This is because I feel having the boy on his own is more personal and the girl bringing him away is reflective of the rest of the film. I decided to do this during the editing scene even though it slightly goes against what I suggested in my storyboard.

Below are the preliminary song choices that I have made to include in my short film. I will be contacting the artists asking permission to use their material and if I have not heard from them after 28 days then I will assume that I can use them.

It is not likely that I will include all of the above songs. I will provide a full list of songs used once the film is fully edited.
